Surfacing

Showing Premium Natural Grain

AuthentEdge offers high-quality surfacing services in which we flatten a rough-sawn slab of wood to achieve a completely smooth finish. Not only does surfacing flatten the wood, it also eliminates any warping or twisting that may have occurred when the wood was kiln-dried.

Using our CNC router with a 5’x12’ table, we’re able to surface table tops and slabs both small and large (up to 60” wide). We aim to achieve a surface that’s as smooth as possible, which will show the natural grain of the wood in every slab that we surface.

Precision Work

At AuthentEdge, we strive to implement very precise machining, which all starts with outstanding surfacing. Starting with a flat and smooth foundation makes every step after significantly easier, and the process smoother.

So, for the professional or the do-it-yourselfer, the flatter the wood, the better the sanding – and the easier to achieve a very nice product with a very good finish.

Sanding

Smooth Surfaces Make Pristine Products

Our two-head wide belt sanding is the perfect way to ensure that a slab of wood is consistently flat from top to bottom. Our wide belt sander can accommodate pieces of wood up to 43 inches in width. Wider slabs are sanded on our CNC router or with a hand sander.

We use our wide belt sander to make the surface even and smooth. The grit used on our first head has 100 grit and the second head has 150 grit. If necessary, we’ll also hand-sand your piece again before finishing for the flattest possible surface. By the time we’re through, your piece will be fully prepared for staining and sealing.

Thorough Process and High Quality Products

A well-sanded surface is crucial in achieving a clean finish and, in turn, an all-around gorgeous piece. Give us a call today to inquire about our sanding services.

Finishing

Adding the Final Touches

One of the things that sets AuthentEdge apart is our ability to produce finished pieces that are as close to natural as possible. Throughout the entire finishing process, we make sure that the wood maintains its character and that the grain shines through.

Our pre-finishing process starts with surfacing our slabs nice and flat then filling the voids with a clear or colored epoxy. After the epoxy is cured, we will then finish sand with our wide belt sander to ensure a smooth surface.

We also offer oil finishes to give your piece of polished look that is sure to stand out and shine for years to come.

Final Inspection

The final sanding and inspection is done by hand to prep for the finishing process. We have various colors to choose from, so you’ll have no problem matching the piece to your home and furniture.

The key ingredient in our finishing process is the matte finish that we use to ensure that the grain pops, and the wood keeps its natural look.

Epoxy is also available for stunning river tables, and for gorgeous custom designs.
